This zipfile contains 'briefing sheets' (one for each side) for every WF scenario in WF, WF BP1 and WFSL! A briefing sheet consists of one page of 'conditions' (eg scenario description, visibility, supply level, scenario length, etc), one section of the friendly OOB (only units actually appearing in the scenario, not the entire *.org file), one section of friendly forces and capabilities (eg which and how many of each platoon type, basic combat data for those platoons, etc) and one section on possible enemy forces and capabilities (ie roughly the same as the previous section except that it contains only platoons available in that time period to the enemy countries in question). It uses full FOW so reading the 'briefing' for the side you are playing will not give away any secrets! It is in the simplest *.doc format and should be readable by any word/wordpad version (or rename it as *.txt but lose the page breaks). (Note: These files are free standing so they can be unzipped anywhere. I'd suggest making a subdirectory under WF called "Briefings". These are quite complex amalgamations, If you spot incorrect data, please let me know so I can fix it. Also, please let me have suggestions as to what can be improved.) (Updated to include WFSL and the v1.05 revisions)
This is a MS Excel 2000 and 5.0/95 file of all the WF, WF BP1 and WF SL scenarios w/ relevant info including all the scen descriptions. Very useful for picking scenarios w/o having to page through the WF screens. It is also is the file that provided the raw data for the Scenario Rating System. (Updated to include WFSL) This is WF 1.04's (WF BP1) unit and weapons data in an MS 'Excel 5.0/97' spreadsheet. The 'sort' worksheet is specifically designed to be sorted as you choose. WF v1.04 Data - Modified by Aleander Davis This is the same data as above but with more features and options for the more advanced excel user. See the "Intro" worksheet for instructions. West Front Unit Display v1.4 by Ioannis Kalafatis This is an MS 'Access 97' database of v1.04 (WF BP1). It draws on all the infomation available in the new spreadsheet (above) but actually allows the user to filter by date, country, side and unit class. It also shows both the 3D unit picture and the photograph (where available). A must have! (Notes: This file can be loaded in any directory, it works best if the WF cd is in the cd rom drive - to show the photographs - and if it can't find any unit data it is likely that your registry points to the wrong directory). Disclaimer: A) This is NOT a TS made fix. B) If it is used, it is at your own risk. C) Notwithstanding all of the above, it's a pretty simple thing and I've confirmed that it works. D) I havent tried to go straight from WF 1.00 to WF 1.03. Others have and tell me it works fine. If it doesnt, run the 1.02 patch to get to 1.02, then use the 1.03 patch. That's what I did and it worked fine. The problem: On a small minority of computers the WF_102/1.03a.exe patch fails while trying to delete the mfc42.dll file. It would appear that the cause is that the mfc42.dll file is 'locked' by a different application. Since the patch is unable to finish, some files are left unpatched. There is no way to run the patch beyond the mfc42.dll failure. The Fix: The WF patches check to see if the files they are patching are a version they recognize. If they recognize them (including if the files are the same as the ones in the patch) they patch them. If not, they fail. So do this: make sure your WF directory contains any combination of v1.03 or earlier files (ie a partial/failed install of a patch is fine). Unzip the above file into your WF directory. Run the v1.03a patch from TS. It should install fine now! East Front/West Front Parameters Data This includes all the info from the TS 'pdata.hlp' file plus more info I've gathered from other official sources (including West Front!). It is an MS 'Excel 5.0' file. Glenn Saunders' "Recon in WF (and EF II)" An outstanding article on how to properly use recon in WF (and EF II). It particularly addresses the new concealment rules, but is also a terrific vision of how to avoid the "recon by death" approach. Guaranteed to change the way you play! This is an article by long time TS playtester Glenn Saunders discussing the new 'Company CP' optional rule in great detail. A must read!!!
