Resource Center Library

Take a browse through a selection of books from my library, books that have been extremely valuable to my EF/WF/RS experience. They are listed by category and have a brief description of why I have found them to be valuable. They are hyperlinked to Amazon.com if you want any of them.

Battle/Campaign Histories

Under Construction!

OOB / T,O&E Books

US Army Handbook 1939-1945 by George Forty

Excellent T,O&E and Divisional sub-unit designations.

Military Philosophy

Warfighting: Maneuver Warfare in the U.S. Marine Corps by H. T. Hayden(Editor)

Awesome book. FMF-1 is the best writing on 'Warfighting' in this century (imho). The other two sections are ok, but far from greatness. LTC Hayden's comments I would have paid extra to avoid. But FMF-1 is a "must read".

The Art of Maneuver : Maneuver-Warfare Theory and Airland Battle by Robert R. Leonhard

Great book. If you read one modern book on maneuver warfare, this should be it.

Maneuver Warfare; An Anthology by Richard D. Hooker(Editor)

Excellent anthology of recent thought on maneuver warfare. There are some very important essays here.

The Art of War by  Sun-Tzu, Samuel B. Griffith (Translator)

Must read.

On War by Carl Von Clausewitz

Must read.

Strategy by B.H. Liddell Hart

Important early work on maneuver warfare.

The Art of War by Antoine Henri Jomini

Another classic.

Military Misfortunes: The Anatomy of Failure in War by Eliot A. Cohen and John Gooch

Fascinating essay on how things go wrong when the shouldn't have. Very valuable in many areas as a checklist for three categories of things not to do.
